Studying Successfully: Tips and Tricks for your Studies
Have you ever asked yourself:
- What is expected of me in the first semester?
- Seminars, lectures, and tutorials – what are the differences and which ones are important for me?
- How should I prepare for my first examinations?
- What types of examinations will I be taking at university?
- Who can I ask and who can help me if I need assistance?
Most students – whether they start their studies directly after school or complete vocational training first, whether they went to school in Germany or abroad – don’t really know when they start studying what it means to study at a university, and they often have many questions.
Rightly so – studying at university is truly something that has to be learned. This information session will give you a first overview: you’ll learn more about the typical challenges all students face at the start, such as getting organized, time management, exam stress, study groups, and understanding the examination regulations. In addition, you will learn more about Universität Hamburg’s various support services, which are available to you during your studies.
Please note: This information session will only include general information applicable to all disciplines. You will receive a subject-specific introduction to scheduling and registering for your courses for the first time at your orientation module (see www.uni-hamburg.de/oe).
