Dr. Julia Quante
Trainer for key and intercultural skills
In this semester I offer the seminar: "Communicate interculturally competently – effectively lead conversations"
My name is Julia Quante, I worked at the University of Hamburg in the International Office and at PIASTA as project manager for the internationalization of UHH, where I introduced the CIC, Certificate Intercultural Competence.
For more than 15 years, I have been working in the expansive field of intercultural communication, a subject that is not only stimulating in research, but plays a major role in many areas of daily life. During my studies "International culture and business studies" in Passau and Pavia, Italy, and in my doctorate, central research questions were about cultural values, comparisons of humor traditions and self-perception and perception of others. As coordinator in the International Office at University Münster, I now work with international scientists, and before as coordinator of the International Max Planck Research School in Hamburg with 60 doctoral students from 20 nations, my daily work was characterized by intercultural communication and conflict resolution.
One of the most important insights of my work is that even high-level research and international cooperation can only be successful with a culturally sensitive and conscious approach. Really successful teams are those that are multiculturally composed und at the same time are managed in an interculturally competent manner.
The aim of my seminars is to expand with the participants their own perspectives and possibilities for action, to improve their communication competence in intercultural dialogue and to further develop self-perception and perception of others. In my seminars, your practical experience is central. Your experience will be supplemented with theoretical knowledge in order to question established viewpoints and expand perspectives. The seminars are interactive, dynamic and participant-centered.
