The transfer area at the Research Centre 538 will host the international symposium „Transferring linguistic know-how into institutional practice“. As part of the first liberal arts transfer area in Germany sponsored by the German Research Foundation since 2007, researchers have been applying findings from their research on multilingualism to different areas of social practice, in close cooperation with their sparing partners. On the first day of the symposium the outcomes and insights from these collaborations will be presented. On the second day all eyes will be set on the future: targeted perspectives and action plans will be discussed as the researchers are joined by decision makers from public life. Central issues are the future challenges that multilingual society will need to address in institutions such as preschools, primary and secondary schools, hospitals and internationally operating companies.
