Potluck ELF
A data exchange system for English L2 and English as a lingua franca discourse and interaction
Welcome.
Potluck ELF is a dynamic corpus of a wide variety of English L2 and ELF data, including all kinds of genres, registers and participants.
Background:
There are at least two good reasons for sharing data.
Aim:
The aim is to give researchers easy access to an eclectic variety of ELF data, enabling more research on ELF communication and encouraging greater analytic diversity. Potluck ELF allows researchers to enlarge their data bases. You can
- complement your data with more data of the kind you already have
- supplement your data with contrastive or comparable material.
Access:
Access to the corpus is granted on the basis of a quid-pro-quo principle, i.e. you add something and get access to the whole corpus (see
Registration for details).
- Entry condition
- A minimum of 1 hour of material with extensive metadata (see Format). Transcribed according to simple, transparent conventions (text, XML format). If possible with the original sound/video files
- Authentic, naturalistic discourse
- Strictly ELF
- Participants with L1s other than a variety of English
- Language of the environment other than English.
- Terms of use
- Use of the corpus material is restricted to non-commercial, scientific purposes.
