Language cafés promote and facilitate language acquisition and cultural exchange among students. Language cafés are not language lessons. They are a good opportunity to practice foreign language skills in a relaxed atmosphere. PIASTA language cafés are organized by students for students. Native speakers act as language coordinators, getting the conversation off to a good start and motivating participants to speak. As a guest, you can benefit most from the language café if you already understand and can speak a bit of the respective language. The basic idea of the language café is that conversation should take place entirely in the respective language.
Please note: If you would like to offer a language café in your own language, please contact the PIASTA Team: piasta~AT~uni-hamburg.de. Leading a language café can be recognized as Building Block C for the Certificate Incultural Competence.
Date: The language cafés for various languages will be newly established in winter semester 2014/2015, so dates have not yet been determined. We will announce which languages are being offered when online.
