About me
My name is Elena Kireva and I was born in Haskovo, Bulgaria. I did my A-levels in the two main subjects Mathematics and German at the Scientific Mathematics Grammar School Haskovo, Bulgaria. Then, I spent one year abroad in Germany to improve my German and to eventually study there. After that I was accepted at the Albert-Ludwigs University in Freiburg, where I studied Romance studies and Slavic studies. I completed my basic study at the Albert-Ludwigs University and I returned to Bulgaria to finish my Bachelor’s degree. In Bulgaria, I had the opportunity to work as a Spanish teacher and as a freelance translator. Once I had completed my bachelor’s degree, I returned to Germany to start the Master’s program in Romance Linguistics at the University of Hamburg. I worked as a student research assistant at SFB 538 on a project called “The Intonation of the Spanish in Argentina” and as a tutor for the seminar “Introduction in Linguistics of the Romance Languages” during my Master’s studies.
I am honored to have received the DAAD scholarship for PhD students at the University of Hamburg. I am looking forward to socializing with new students and hope to support PIASTA in the upcoming semester. I am responsible for the coordination of doctoral candidates and am available to help with all questions relating to the doctorate at the University of Hamburg.
