Research interests

My research focuses on early life history of small pelagic fish. I investigate development and growth rate indices (RNA/DNA, enzymes, otolith growth and lipids) in different controlled environmental conditions (temperature, salinity, food quantity) and use these results to interpret condition and growth rates of field caught larvae.

Educational Background

2000-2002 Basic studies of Biology at the Freien Universität Berlin
2003-2007 Main studies of Biology, focus on Biological Oceanography at the Institute for
                  Hydrobiology and Fisheries Sciences, Hamburg
2006-2007 Diploma thesis : Growth and condition of larval sprat (Sprattus sprattus). A combined
                  laboratory and field investigation

Employment

1998 - 1999: Assistantship at the Institute for Microbiology, Freiburg.
2003 - 2004 & 2006: Research assistant in the project GLOBEC ,,Marine Ecosystems and Global
                                  Change.
2005: Research assistant in the project BECAUSE ,Critical Interactions BEtween Species and their
Implications for a PreCAUtionary FiSheries Management in a variable Environment.
2007: Research assistant in the project RECONN , Resolving trophodynamic CONsequences of
          Climate ChaNge.
2008: PhD-student at the Institute for Hydrobiology and Fisheries Sciences

ADDITIONAL EDUCATION

2006-2007 Scientific diver license
