On 12 June 2012 the Karl H. Ditze Foundation held their eleventh festive ceremony to award outstanding degree and doctoral theses in the humanities and education departments at Universität Hamburg.
The following nominees received the Karl H. Ditze Prize 2012:
- Dr. Sönke Ahrens for his doctoral dissertation: Experiment and exploration. Education as an experimental form of revealing the world (Experiment und Exploration. Bildung als experimentelle Form der Welterschließung)
- Dr. Peter Salden for his doctoral dissertation: Russian literature in Poland (1864 - 1904) [Russische Literatur in Polen (1864–1904)]
- Hanna Klimpe for her master's thesis: "Theatricality and the construction of reality in 'Le Rouge et le Noir'" („Theatralität und Realitätskonstruktion in Stendhals 'Le Rouge et le Noir'")
- Judith Zimmer for her Diplom thesis: "Subjective motivations in learning. Analyses of the meaning of individual motivations based on interviews about learning biographies" („Subjektive Lernbegründungen. Bedeutungs-Begründungs-Analysen lernbiographischer Interviews")

This year's award winners were delighted with the recognition of their work. Dr. Peter Salden emphasized that the prizes not only represent financial support, but also have a "high intrinsic value."
