On 4 July 2011 the Karl H. Ditze Foundation awarded their promotion prize for excellent degree and doctoral theses in the humanities at Universität Hamburg. It was the eleventh Ditze Prize ceremony.
This year's award winners specialize in tibetology, japanology, and protestant theology.
The following nominees received the Karl H. Ditze Prize 2011:
- Dr. Carola Roloff for her doctoral dissertation in tibetology: Red mda´ ba. Buddhist Yogi Scholar of the Fourteenth Century. The Forgotten Reviver of madhyamaka Philosophy in Tibet
- Ruth Achenbach for her master's thesis: "How much space for the junior partner? A case study into Japan's Taiwan policy between 1969 and 1978 investigating Japan's role in the security alliance with the USA" („Wie viel Raum für den Juniorpartner? Eine Fallstudie der japanischen Taiwanpolitik zwischen 1969 und 1978 zur Rolle Japans im Sicherheitsbündnis mit den USA")
- Dr. Reingard Wollmann-Braun for her doctoral dissertation in applied theology: Remembering and commemorating victims of political violence: the example of St. Jacob's Cathedral in Szczecin/Stettin after World War II. A liturgical study of Christian memory culture (Erinnern und Gedenken der Opfer politischer Gewalt. Am Beispiel der St. Jakobi-Kathedrale in Szczecin/Stettin nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg. Eine liturgiewissenschaftliche Studie zur christlichen Erinnerungskultur)
- Martina Ulm for her master' thesis in missions, ecumenism, and religious studies: "On the encounter of Jews and Christians - conceptional thoughts on dialogue with a particular focus on socio-psychological approaches" („Zur Begegnung von Juden und Christen – Konzeptionelle Überlegungen zum Dialog unter besonderer Berücksichtigung sozialpsychologischer Ansätze“)
