Dr. Helge Torgersen project coordinator Austria studied biology at the University of Salzburg. He worked as a lecturer at the Institute for Molecular Biology in Salzburg and then moved to the Institute for Biochemistry at the Medical Department of the University of Vienna. He changed affiliation in 1990 and became a permanent member of the Institute of Technology Assessment (ITA) at the Austrian Academy of Sciences. Helge’s research covers all kinds of topics related to biotechnological developments such as synthetic biology, systems biology, the public understanding of biotechnological innovation, theoretical aspects of technology assessment, the governance of biotechnological innovation and – before he moved to ITA – on molecular biological models of viruses.
