Dr.in Mag.a Karen Kastenhofer, principal investigator of WP 2 & WP 6

Karen Kastenhofer studied biology at the Universities of Vienna and Brussels (diploma 2000) and completed her Ph.D. after participation in the research project “Science as Culture” at the Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies of Austrian Universities (IFF) in Vienna in 2005. After her participation in the research project “Nichtwissenskulturen” at the University of Augsburg, she took up a research position at the Austrian Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Technology Assessment in 2007, focussing on the epistemic culture(s) of the life sciences and scientific and societal ways of dealing with risk, knowledge and uncertainty in the context of biotechnology.
