Dr. Martin Döring M.A., principal investigator of WP 1 & WP 3

and project manager Martin Döring studied Romance linguistics and art history at the University of Hamburg and at the Université de Sorbonne, Paris. He completed his PhD on the politics of river flooding and river management in Germany and France in 2004. Till then, Martin worked on several projects in different European countries investigating the implementation of national parks in Germany, the cultural dimensions of river management in the Netherlands, the social and cultural impacts of foot-and-mouth disease in Britain, “stem cell cultures” in Britain and Germany and the socio-economic impact of Offshore Wind Energy on the German North Sea Coast. Coming back to Hamburg University, he joined BIOGUM in 2006 where he first worked on prevention and obesity before he started investigating the social and cultural implications of systems and synthetic biology in 2010.
