Dr. Imme Petersen, M.A., principal investigator of WP5

Imme Petersen studied cultural anthropology, law, and geography at the universities in Goettingen, Hamburg, Brussels, and San Diego. She completed her PhD on the cultural concepts of person and life in political discourse in 2002. She has been working in several research projects on the societal, cultural and ethical dimensions of biotechnology, in particular in the field of reproductive technologies, organ transplantation, stem cell research and cancer research. From 2002 until 2004, Imme worked as a journalist for a popular magazine on issues on science and medicine. She joined BIOGUM in 2006 where she first worked in the research project “Advancing Clinico-Genomic Trials on Cancer” which she is currently analyzing in the course of THCL as a case study of systems biology.
