Since July 1st, 2008, eLBase1 has been set up as a consortium project involving:
It is being implemented jointly with the management of the University of Hamburg.
eLBase1 aims to realize the sustainable integration of digital media in all core processes of teaching and studying in the participating faculties and to promote the effective implementation of the University of Hamburg's eLearning strategy formulated in 2006. eLearning opportunities will be integrated into the curriculum and exam regulations and be viewed as part and parcel of the student life cycle. The eLBase1 Project is an important catalyst for the integration of better organizational and support structures for eLearning during studies in the participating faculties. eLBase1 responds to changes in studies necessitated by the introduction of Bachelor and Master degree programs. The measures planned should contribute to the long-term maintenance of Hamburg's appeal as an academic locus; it should also prepare Hamburg for increasing competition in the educational marketplace.
Put your seminar on the Net at the University of Hamburg
Within the framework of the project "Put you seminar on the Net" at the University of Hamburg, ideas for innovative approaches to teaching and supplementing courses with digital media will receive funding. Grants will be supervised by eLearning representative Dr. Angela Peetz of the University of Hamburg. The selection of projects to receive funding takes place in 2009 in cooperation with Dr. Kerstin Mayrberger, Assistant Professor for Media Education at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz. The grants aim to support the University of Hamburg's eLearning strategy, formulated by the managment in 2006, as well as to improve the quality of teaching.
Beluga is a new research platform through which information about books and other literature can be automatically exported to eLearning environments. The ELCH Project Beluga (11/2007 - 10/2009) aims to connect study-management systems such as CommSy, Blackboard and Moodle to library catalogues. Additionally, a service is being set up to make academic literature electronically accessible: printed texts will be digitalized for individual courses, if required, and made accessible in the desired study environment. In addition, the new research platform will be distinguished by a few functionalities typical of Web 2.0.
The entire university community is called upon to support our efforts in making literature available by distributing key words and setting up permanent literature lists accessible to others. This will create new networks as well as opportunities within the platform to exchange the literature in the library catalogue.
ePush is a project of the Faculty of Education, Psychology and Human Movement. It will run for two years (10/2007 - 09/2009) and it is fusing, developing and permanently establishing the Faculty's various structures. The project aims to make the Faculty's instructors and students aware of the possibilities of "information and communications technology" (ICT) in both studying and teaching and to promote familiarity with ICT. Innovative forms of instruction will be supported and developed, community building will be encouraged and suitable infrastructures will be created. ePUSH thereby encompasses all levels of activity from the organization of material, study methods and study groups to organizational infrastructure.
KoOP stands for "Conception and Realization of Inter-University Organizational and Process Innovation in Digital Studying at Hamburgs' Universities." This collaborative project, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research over two years (2005-2007), aims to effectively network the resources and skills at Hamburg's universities and to coordinate and strengthen these in order to achieve long-term quality and improvement in services for both students and teaching staff. Within the framework of KoOP, a holistic innovation strategy is being pursued which takes technical, organizational, subject-related and didactic aspects into consideration. The concept and the step-by-step implementation of innovative processes to sustain the use and distribution of eLearning, with an eye towards the necessary IT infrastructure, aim to make eLearning part and parcel of instruction and administrative tasks at Hamburg's universities in both the mid and long-terms.
