With the aim of supporting modern and innovative teaching in the field of eLearning, MICHeL (Multimedia | Internet | Community Hamburger eLearning) and the Regional Computer Center of the University of Hamburg have a service portfolio which helps instructors and students design and conduct blended-learning seminars and virtual courses. Moreover, MICHeL supplies application support for the University of Hamburg's eLearning platforms OLAT, Commsy and the multi-media web communications system Adobe Connect and it offers regular workshops and invidual advising.
The Center for University and Continuing Education (formerly the IZHD) of the Faculty of Education, Psychology and Human Movement at the University of Hamburg is concerned with the theoretical development of university didactics, teaching and studying using digital media as well as with the development and implementation of continuing education studies for university instructors. In the last two decades, the ZHW has focused on the research fields of eLearning/New Media, teaching staff development and strategy development in university teaching with respect to premises of university didactics.
The Office of Academic Continuing Education at the University of Hamburg provides working men and women, university graduates and other interested parties practical eLearning and blended-learning continuing education opportunities. In addition, there are more opportunities in the general lectures program as well as in the contact studies, distance learning and eLearning programs for older adults.
The Faculty of Education, Psychology and Human Movement's (EPB) media center is a central institution of the faculty which responds to the current and future significance of the key area "Media and Education". In particular, it aims to secure the medial infrastructure for research, teaching and administration in the faculty. Its goals include: developing, producing and evaluating media in research and teaching; providing students and full instructors in the faculty with media skills as well as integrating on a long-term basis the key topic area "New Media" into research and teaching.
The Media Skills Center at the University of Hamburg's Regional Computer Center provides diverse services in the field of software-supported media processing (graphics and presentations, on-line media, streaming services). It also accepts and distributes media using various equipment (support media technology, leasing). In addition, the MCC is the contact for support in equipping University of Hamburg buildings and rooms.
The Carol von Ossietzky Public and University Library of Hamburg (Stabi) is the University of Hamburg's and other Hamburg universities' main library. It houses and supplies scholarly, cultural, press, economic and administrative literature and information. In the past few years, the Stabi's electronic services have been consistently expanded. Alongside a library system with Internet catalogue and lending services, there is a broad spectrum of electronic services (media workshop, desks with Internet access, electronic dissertations and magazines, e-books, diverse subject-specific data-bases, virtual subject-specific libraries, etc.).
The "E-Learning Consortium Hamburg" is a cross-university committee of experts involving members of the universities with knowledge of their disciplines and members of the Public and University library. It pursues the further developments of a multi-media strategy for Hamburg's universities and their advising. It also supports the Office of Education and Research in all questions related to eLearning, multi-media production and the use of multi-media in teaching. In addition to its role as the advisory council for the Multimedia Kontor Hamburg, ELCH prioritizes project applications from Hamburg universities and the distribution of special funding provided by the Office of Education and Research for eLearning, multi-media production and the use of multi-media in teaching.
The Multimedia Kontor Hamburg is an enterprise of Hamburg's six public universities in association with the "E-Learning-Consortium Hamburg." As a service institution, consultation and skills center, it supports and advises in all questions related to IT-based modernization of teaching and administration in Hamburg's universities. Among its activities are - among other things - consulting and supporting IT-supported campus management, promoting and guiding eLearning projects as well as the production and marketing of multi-media material and eLearning opportunities.
