OLAT is an Open Source teaching and study platform which can be used to support both traditionally-attended courses (e.g. blended learning) and purely on-line courses. OLAT provides instructors with various course building blocks to support them in the organization, design and didactic orientation of their courses. It is also possible to set up cross-course structures. Using OLAT, students can complete assignments, access material provided by instructors, participate in forums and communicate with other classmates. They can also submit their own material and establish study groups. The development team won the renowned MeDiDa Prize in 2000 as well as the "Leadership Award 209 for Best Open Source Learning Platform." OLAT will replace the Blackboard platform in April 2010.
