With 34 professorships and 7 junior-professorships the Department of Biology is one of the largest
biological facilities in Germany. It is subdivided into three scientific centers:
- Biocenter Grindel and Zoological Museum
- Biocenter Klein Flottbek and Botanical Garden
- Department of Wood Science
Both Biocenters and the Department of Wood Science serve as research
centers and lyceums for students of Biology and Wood Science.
The Department
of Biology is one of six Departments located in the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Natural Sciences.
