Welcome to the homepage of the Institute of Zoology
at the University of Hamburg. The Institute of Zoology has
a strong research and teaching program, comprising all
aspects of zoology ranging from molecular biology to ecology.

reports and lists of publications. Each year, numerous students conduct
their theses in the Bachelor/Master of Science program and the Bachelor/Master
of Molecular Life Science program under our supervision. Each year about. 40 young
researchers are awarded with a PhD titel here.

The Institute of
Zoology consists of six divisions that offer a broad expertise in diverse areas of zoology, with a focus
on evolutionary biology and ecology. Zoology at the University of Hamburg is represented by a young
team of recently appointed professors, forming the backbone of a cutting-edge research environment.
The Institute of Zoology and the Zoological Museum are joined in a tight partnership, cooperating in both
research and teaching.
