Re-registration for Summer Semester 2010: New Semester Fee

The re-registration period has begun. We'd like to remind you tha , starting in summer semester 2010, the semester fee has increased to 254.50 euros. You can find a sample counter at your STiNE account under "Documents" as well as more information. To complete re-registration, you must pay both the semester fee and the tuition fees by 1 April at the latest,the reminder about tuition fees will be posted strating mid-February in your STiNE account.

International Welcome Week

Piasta LogoFrom Oct. 5th to Oct. 9th , the PIASTA team at the University of Hamburg and the Hamburg Welcome Center invite all international and German first-semester students to the start of winter semester 2009/2010. The International Welcome Week welcomes new students with a diverse program, giving them an opportunity to get to know Hamburg and the University as well as to gather information on studying and living in Hamburg and to meet a lot of new people. Tuition Information

After the Federal Constitutional Court declared the prohibition of tuition unconstitutional on January 26, 2005, Hamburg planned to institute these study fees. The Ministry of Science and Health presented a bill on December 20, 2005. Starting in 2006, Hamburg made it possible for institutions of higher education to charge tuition amounting to a maximum of 500 euros per semester. The income from the fees is being used by the universities to improve teaching and study conditions. More...

Change to Bachelor and Master

Photo: EU flagBy 2010 all European are supposed to have changed to the Bachelor-Master system. This resolution was passed by the European ministers of education in Bologna in 1999. The University of Hamburg is planning to change all its courses of study and replace its Diplom and Magister degrees with a Bachelor as a first and a Master as a second degree.
