The excellence cluster CliSAP focuses on current questions about climate change, climate predictability and the possible consequences of climate change, in particular for coastal regions in northern Germany.
More than 120 scientists and technicians from 17 departments, institutes and facilities at Universität Hamburg, the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology, the Institute of Coastal Research at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht, the German Climate Computing Center and the Institute for Peace Research and Security Policy at Universität Hamburg participate in the Cluster.
CliSAP has received funding for the period 2007-12. Spokesperson is Prof. Dr. Martin Claußen, professor at Universität Hamburg and director of the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology.
CliSAP provided the impetus for bringing together its partners to form the KlimaCampus Hamburg. The KlimaCampus is the focal point for all academic activities and facilitates even closer and more interdisciplinary cooperation between scientists.
