Welcome to the homepage of the General Languages of the University of Hamburg.

By order of the University of Hamburg the Hamburger Volkshochschule offers courses in English, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Low German, Dutch, Norwegian^new!, Swedish, Latin, Turkish, German as a Foreign Language and Sign Language. In all courses general language skills are taught.

All language courses are free of tuition for students studying at the University of Hamburg. Only a valid semester certificate is needed.
The language courses are offered at three different levels from A1 to B1. Furthermore the courses are following the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) developed by the European Council.
