By order of the University of Hamburg, HafenCity University Hamburg and the University of Fine Arts of Hamburg the Hamburger Volkshochschule offers courses in German as a Foreign Language. These courses are for Erasmus students and exchange students of other programmes (UHH, HCU and HfBK).
The courses are free of tuition for students studying at the University of Hamburg. All you need is a semester certificate.

The German courses are offered at different levels from A1 to A2 and follow the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) developed by the European Council.
For higher levels, the "Institute for German Studies I" organizes the German courses for Erasmus students.
The course will close with an exam. If you pass this exam you will receive a certificate showing a grade and credit points.
