After the First Round:  84 Percent of All University Places Have Been Awarded ( August 21, 2008)

The University of Hamburg today took stock of its first round of admissions to the 4,500 available places for winter semester 2008/2009. As of August 21, 2008, 84 percent of all places have been allocated. In the current admission procedures, applicants have for the first time immediately received admission letters if their Abitur grades were within the range for their major. For winter semester 2008/2009 there were 30,238 applications for the 4,500 University of Hamburg places ( last year, 23,987 applications). The second round with its clearing procedures in which applicants are offered still available places, begins on August 25th. University places in, for example, teacher training are currently still available. More...

The ship proved its performance capabilities in tests on Ratzeburg Lake, the Elbe-Lübeck Canal and the Elbe. Confucius Institute Receives License for Official Chinese Language Testing (February 5, 2008)

The Confucius Institute at the University of Hamburg e.V. which was established in the fall of 2007 has been granted the license to administer the official Chinese language test Hanyu shuiping kaoshi (HSK). Now, for the first time in ten years, Chinese tests will again be carried out in Hamburg. The HSK tests will take place in the spring and in the fall, the first on May 18, 2008.
