"Hot Paper": Results of Research Cooperation between Hamburg and Stanford published
Researchers in the Burger work group from the Department of Chemistry at the Universities of Hamburg and Stanford report in the current issue of the journal "Applied Chemistry" the discovery of the very unusual reactivity of a new iridium-
nitrido complex which could have important effects upon the development of new Haber-Bosch catalysers to synthesize ammonia.
In the publication, deemed extremely significant ("hot paper"), the previously unknown hydration of a terminal Nitrido unit with hydrogen to form the respective metal-amino group is described and also finds mention in the issue of "Science" which came out today.
The main author, Dr. Julia Schöffel, recently acquired her Ph.D. with honors in Chemistry at the University of Hamburg and has pursued her successful research since the beginning of the year with a DFG stipend as a post-graduate at UC San Diego in the United States.
